A long-spined sea scorpion (Taurulus bubalis) guarding its eggs.

Photgraphed at Loch Fyne in Scotland in February. This one was found in quite shallow water at around 8 meters depth. Despite the intrusion of a camera lens very close, the fish was comitted to staying with and guarding its bright red eggs.

Highly commended in the British Wildlife Photography Awards (BWPA 2013) and judged the best print on show at the Bristol Underwater Photography Group (BUPG).
